What is Dragon Tuesday?

Dragon Tuesday is celebrated on the Tuesday after American Thanksgiving, as "a chance for us all to express our respect for & fear of the dragon who imprisons us in this cold village"[1] according to John Darnielle of the Mountain Goats, otherwise known as "the guy who invented Dragon Tuesday"[2].

Of course, Dragon Tuesday is different for all those who celebrate. As long as you remember the true meaning of Dragon Tuesday ("raw, primal fear"[3]) you can celebrate however you'd like. When is the next Dragon Tuesday?

The next official Dragon Tuesday will be on December 3rd, 2024. However, you don't have to wait until then to pay tribute to the dragons in your life– Any Tuesday can be a Dragon Tuesday if you're feeling the holiday spirit.
